Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information (FoI) Act 2000 allows anyone the right to ask for information about us. On some occasions, there may be cases where we do not need to provide the information which are called exemptions.

Access to Information

The Trust routinely publishes many types of information about:

  • Who we are and what we do
  • What we spend and how we spend it
  • What our priorities are and how we are doing
  • How we make decisions
  • Our policies and procedures
  • The services we offer

Information on the website is provided free of charge. Please note that there is a possibility that you may be charged a fee for the information that you request.

Be specific

You will get the information faster if you help us identify the exact information you require.
Make sure that you:

  • Are specific about exactly what information you want
  • Provide, where appropriate, a relevant time frame e.g. financial year for 2011 to 2012 or January to April 2012.

When we receive your request

We aim to reply promptly to your request, and are obliged by statute to provide a response within 20 working days. Some information may not be available because it falls within one of the exemptions of the Act.

Please note that public organisations such as Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust will often hold information as part of their normal activities, which cannot be expected to make public. This is recognised in the Freedom of Information Act 2000, which provides exemptions from the obligations under the Act in certain circumstances.
